On Monday 12th September thirty of our Year 11 GCSE catering students visited Leckford Estate near Stockbridge, which you may recognise as 'The Waitrose Farm'.
We were given a very detailed insight into how mushrooms are produced, packaged and sent to stores. This taught us valuable information which will help us in the GCSE catering exam such as HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points).
The groups were also shown how apples are grown and the tests used to determine whether an apple is destined to be juiced, made into cider or simply eaten.
All students were a credit to the Academy and members of the Estate were very passionate giving us an insightful trip.
